Margaret McKinnon's birth has not been found and her age in Census entries is inconsistent. Her gravestone in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo gives her dates as 1844—1892 but the marriage certificate gives her age in January 1865 as 22. The family emigrated to USA in 1876 and was living in
Hartford, Connecticut at the time of the 1880 US Census. They were in Buffalo, New York in 1892 and in 1900 David was in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his two youngest daughters. He remarried to Ann Haugh some time before the 1920 Census, when he was back in Buffalo, his place of death in 1922. He was buried in Grand Rapids.
