Following the death of his first wife, Mary McIver, Lewis McKenzie married Christina Matheson, a widow with a daughter Penuel Grant Morrison, born 23 October 1865 in Eddrachillis, Sutherland. Lewis and Christina had one child, named Mary McKenzie - unusual as Lewis had a living daughter with the same name as her half sister.
